Privacy policy

This policy explains what CarnivoreDieting.com (“we”) collects, how advertising and affiliate links work on the site, and the choices you have. Open privacy settings.

What we collect

• Account data: your email address, display name and a securely hashed password (we never store your actual password).
• Content you create: stories you submit and items you save.
• Security data: your IP address is kept briefly (up to 24 hours) to rate-limit logins and sign-ups and prevent abuse.
• Server logs: our host keeps standard web server logs (IP address, pages requested, browser type) for security and troubleshooting.

Cookies and similar technologies

Essential cookies (always on): a session cookie that keeps you logged in and protects forms, and a cookie called cd_consent that remembers your privacy choices for 12 months.

Advertising cookies (only with your choice): we may show ads served by Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet. Third parties may also place and read cookies on your browser, or use web beacons and similar identifiers, to collect information as a result of ad serving on this site.

• Opt out of personalized advertising from Google at My Ad Center, and from many other vendors at aboutads.info or the NAI opt-out page.
• Use Privacy settings at any time to allow or refuse personalized ads on this site. If you refuse, you may still see ads, but they won't be personalized.

Visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland see Google's consent message, which lets you accept, reject or customize advertising cookies before any are used.

Affiliate links

Some links (for example to Amazon) are affiliate links, marked “(paid link).” If you click one, the store may set its own cookies to credit us for a purchase. The store handles that data under its own privacy policy (see Amazon's Privacy Notice). We don't receive your name or what you bought, only aggregated sales reports. See How we make money.

Other third parties

Pages load fonts from Google Fonts. Videos are not loaded from YouTube or Vimeo until you click play; after that, YouTube's privacy-enhanced player or Vimeo's do-not-track player is used and their policies apply. Photos are hosted on our own server. Links to studies and books take you to external sites with their own policies.

Your rights and choices

• Do Not Sell or Share / targeted advertising opt-out: we don't sell your account information. Allowing advertising cookies may count as “sharing” or “targeted advertising” under some US state laws (including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Virginia and others). You can opt out at any time with the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information link.
• Global Privacy Control: if your browser sends a GPC signal, we treat it as an opt-out of personalized advertising for that browser automatically.
• Access, correction and deletion: you can change your display name and password, and permanently delete your account and everything linked to it, from your account page. For anything else, email us.
• EEA/UK visitors: you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing of your data, to withdraw consent at any time, and to complain to your data protection authority. We rely on consent for advertising cookies and on our legitimate interest and contract for running your account and keeping the site secure.

Children

This site is not directed to children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their personal information.

Retention and security

We keep account data until you delete your account. Rate-limit records are deleted after 24 hours. Passwords are hashed, all traffic is encrypted with HTTPS, and access to the database is restricted.
